The Fire Prevention Bureau is responsible for fire safety inspections in what is known as life hazard use buildings, local businesses, non-owner occupied one and two family homes, as well as multiple dwellings. The bureau conducts approximately 2,200 inspections per year with additional re-inspections of those businesses and dwellings found to be in violation of the New Jersey state fire code.
