In New Jersey the Borough Clerk occupies the most important and exacting positions in Municipal government. In many instances it is the hub of Municipal operations. The Clerk, by virtue of their position, serves as a liaison officer between the governing officials and the residents and between the executive and the general body of Municipal personnel. The Clerk's office is always willing to develop public good will and to keep the public informed. We will always strive to help in any way we can or direct your inquiry to the appropriate department.
Duties of the Borough Clerk include but are not limited to:

- Custodian of Records
- Local Ordinances
- Resolutions
- Public Meetings, Minutes & Agendas
- Bonds
- Contracts
- Receiving and Responding to OPRA Requests
- Licensing Officer
- Receiving and Forwarding Notice of Claims
- Code Book Maintenance
- Administering and Maintaining Oaths of Office
The office of the Borough Clerk is also responsible for:
- Issuing Garage Sale Permits
- Receiving Landlord Registrations: Non-Owner occupied one or two family homes must be registered
- Receiving Foreclosed and/or Vacant Property Registrations
In the Borough of Lodi, the Borough Clerk also serves as the Registrar of Vital Statistics
