The Borough of Lodi offers a 10 calendar day grace period for payment of taxes. Payment must be received by the last day of the grace period to avoid interest; therefore if the 10th falls on a Saturday, Sunday or Holiday, the last day of the grace period is extended to the next business day. (ie: November 10th falls on a Saturday, we are closed Monday, November 12th for Veterans day, the last day of the grace period would become Tuesday, November 13th to pay to avoid interest).
Pleas note that on the following last day of the grace period, interest will be charged, reverting to the statutory due dates, at 8% on the first $1500.00 and 18% on the remaining balance.
Can the Tax Collector waive interest?
No. Per State Statue 12-146, a Tax Collector does not have the authority to waive interest due on a delinquent tax.
